Meet The Chronicles of Wanderlust

Curious as to who's behind The Chronicles of Wanderlust? It's me, Melissa! Just a Canadian girl from Vancouver with a serious case of wanderlust.

I'm a world explorer. I’ve been to 40 countries and am on a quest to step foot in every continent before I turn 30. I’ve studied abroad in Australia, taught English in South Korea, and would love to live in Europe one day. My favourite travel destination has to be Spain and Iceland, Peru, Jordan, and Mongolia are currently at the top of my bucket list.

I'm a professional writer. When I'm not blogging, I'm creating digital ads, video scripts, product descriptions, and social media posts for a Fortune 500 company. As an experienced Marketing Copywriter, I write content that entertains, educates, and engages audiences. I also freelance and have produced captivating marketing materials for a variety of travel companies based in Asia and North America. Looking for a seasoned wordsmith who can effectively communicate your brand to the world? Get in touch to find out what I can do for you.

I'm a food enthusiast. Food enthusiast is putting it lightly…I'm a little piggy who believes there's no point in living if you're not eating good food. I’m crazy about Japanese ramen, shepherd's pie, guacamole, curries, wine (that's a food right?), pasta, Korean BBQ, mashed potatoes, shawarma, dumplings, burritos, and the list goes on. Cooking is a passion of mine and I'm always on the lookout for new dishes and restaurants to try. My favourite type of people are the ones who aren’t afraid to get adventurous with their food.

I'm a party animal. My biggest problem? I spend way too much on festivals. I just can't help it. To me, there's nothing better than basking in warm sunlight, listening to good tunes, and dancing all day (and night) with good friends. Some of my fondest memories are from Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Coachella, and Holy Ship. I'll be in Miami for Ultra Music Festival and Iceland for Secret Solstice this year. Come join me on the dance floor?

I'm a crazy cat lady. One day in South Korea, a student of mine found a stray kitten hiding under the school's shed. He brought the tiny cat to me and asked what we should do. I told him I was going to bring him to the animal shelter, but the moment I held the adorable fur ball, I knew I had to keep him. Ever since, Raja and I have been inseparable and I've become obsessed with cats. Cat cafes are my favourite places in the world (I'd love to open one myself someday) and I volunteer at a local cat shelter every week.

I'm an adrenalin junkie. From cage diving with great white sharks and skydiving to bungee jumping and running with the bulls, I've never said no to a thrilling adventure. This year, I plan on hiking to Macchu Picchu and coming face-to-face with Komodo dragons in Indonesia. I also hope to become a certified scuba diver soon. Like I always say, you only live once, so you might as well make it interesting right?

Here, I share helpful travel tips and my globetrotting adventures. I started this blog to inspire you to get out of your comfort zone and see our big, beautiful world. Whether you're humming and hawing about booking that plane ticket or debating moving abroad, I say: do it because there’s no better time than now.
